Physio Julie Bruton

Julie graduated in Physiotherapy from Bournemouth University in 2010, and has since gained broad experience ranging from sports injury clinics in London, to surf retreats in Indonesia and ski resorts in Switzerland.

Julie strongly believes in a good work life balance, and that people should be able to enjoy what they love to do. This is reflected in her physiotherapy practice, where she is always keen to help people get back to their favourite sport, hobby or simply everyday life.

Julie first fell in love with Pilates when teaching surf focused Pilates sessions in the beautiful Indonesian island of Lombok. She then completed her APPI training in Pilates Matwork, as well as her therapeutic Yoga course. She loves utilising her Pilates and Yoga skills to aid the recovery of her clients and to help them achieve their goals. 

Julie has also completed a mindful-based stress reduction diploma and uses some of these techniques to encourage her clients to be more mindful in everyday life. She has noticed a big impact on this regarding peoples decreased stress levels and pain. As well as this, she has also completed an acupuncture course and enjoys using this in conjunction with other treatment modalities.

Growing up Julie was a keen competitive swimmer and stilll trains today, with her local swimming club, and occasionally competes. She also loves to keep fit with her own personal practice of Pilates and Yoga as well as running across the Sussex countryside, or along Brighton beach.

Thank you Julie for being such a great coach and for having the patience and skill to put up with all my annoying quirks because of my hypermobility, especially making all the little adjustments required for my condition (I don’t know how you keep a straight face sometimes!). Above all, THANK YOU for getting me to stick with it on the shoulder exercises and succeeding where the NHS physios sadly failed - you have no idea what a luxury it is for one to be able to wash one’s own back again! I wish you all the very best in your Winter job and sincerely hope that we will see you again next year.

Julie has been a real breath of fresh air in the time she has been taking our class. Her whole persona is calm and focused on getting us doing things correctly. I think we will miss her but mustn’t take any praise away from Claire she is brill too. The whole team are so friendly and welcoming including Pippa the pup!
